Forklift Forklift

Practical Training covers:

  • Basic construction, names of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges
  • Use of the operator’s handbook, other information sources, Approved Codes of Practice and legislative documents
  • Operator documentation, certificates, method statements, lift plans, duties charts etc
  • Pre-use, start, running checks and close-down procedure
  • Preparing the forklift for travel
  • Travelling the forklift up and down substantial inclines, while loaded and unloaded
  • Manoeuvring progressing to confined spaces in a forward and reverse direction with and without loads
  • Setting the forklift to lift and move different loads.
  • Load characteristics, integrity and security while picking, moving and landing, including landing loads in high places
  • Lifting, moving and placing various loads accurately, including loading and unloading a vehicle or trailer
  • How to stay within safe working parameters
  • Placing the forklift in an out-of-service condition.
